PostSubject: Intro and need a part for my dad for x-mas   Mon Dec 03, 2012 2:11 pm

My name is Scott. I dabble in old harleys and cars, but my dad is a hobbyist with a love of John Deere's. He has a 1010: kind of an amateur resto. It's a gasoline model, and I think he said it's whatever the base model is (no frills or options). He's in Easton, MD.

I apologize in advance, because I doubt I'll be able to contribute much here as I'll only be here on behalf of my father on occasion, since he's not terribly internet savvy or interested.

I didn't see any classifieds either, so I apologize if this is against forum rules but I'm looking for a dash/instrument panel for said tractor to give to my father as a christmas gift. Previous owner cut his in half to remove it at some time. If anyone has one or suggestions on where to look, I'd appreciate it. you can email me at smckelveyATvelvetcustomsDOTcom.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Scott welcome to the forums, I’m sure you dad will have a blast working on his 1010. As for the instrument panel there is one piece of info we need to help track on down for you. Is the gear shift on the dash or is it located on the top of the transmission?

The 1010 was only made from 1960-1965
There seems to be only two styles of the dash the early one (1960-1962) and the late style (1963-1965).

The gear shifter is down on the trans (I assume it's the trans) between the drivers legs (5 gears as i recall).

I don't remember the dash that well, but I recall 3 gauge holes. There may have been another smaller hole on each side of the steering column (like for a choke knob or something). Someone cut all the way across the panel (through all 3 gauge holes) if i remember correctly. I assume to make it more easily removed, which wouldn't be that bad, but it's not a straight or clean cut.
