| I have a leak in the same spot on my 1010. Called a local JD dealer and was told there's no seal there. Have you found a cause and fix for the leak? | |

| I purchased a service manual and after further research found that the area that is leaking is actually the rock shaft (which does have a seal).

| I'm not sure why I did not already own the service manual, but one is on the way now. Any advice or tips when replacing the rock shaft seal? Thanks for the help. | |

| I had the same problem with my rockshaft leaking on the left side. John Deere does have the seals, there are two seals one inner and one outer seal. I dont know if you have a duel system or not ,but be carefull pulling out the old seals,if you move the outer shaft too far it will come out of the splines and it is a pain getting it back in matching the splines to get the shaft back in. I had this problem and wound up taking the entire rockshaft and pump off of the tractor, after doing this it was a matter of using the shop manual and looking at the diagrams of the entire unit.It was very simple to do and I got a birds eye veiw of how the lift works. The reason that I took off the complete unit was that the splines were damaged from past repairs done by the previous owner. It would be wise to get a service manual from the John Deere book store this has helped me a lot on some repairs. Just go to www. John Deere .com/bookstore to order the manual well worth the money, this is the original shop manual that John Deere sends to the dealerships. | |
