I'm back. Finally. It's been a while but I'm finally getting a chance to work on my 1010 wheel tractor. In the fall of 2012 I removed the backhoe and put the tractor in the barn to work on the transmission. After draining the oil/water out of all of the trany and final drives I started to do some exploratory digging. turns out both of the bearings on the top left hand shaft of the trany were missing all of their cage and rollers. Most of the gears looked usable but at that time I wasn't sure.
That was about as far as I got when things got bogged down. Between cold weather, my fathers ill health and passing and then my own issues I have managed to get the final drives and trany off the tractor and the trany broken down. Yup, rollers all of the bottom of the case. What a sight. Not a happy one. But what I have to deal with.
With the trany part it looks like most of the gears will be salvageable. I may have to replace one shaft and a gear cluster but I'm not sure yet. I'll know better once I get things more broken down and examined. I don't plan on using this thing day in and day out so I think if I can piece it together to be serviceable. That will work for me. I don't ever expect it to be perfect. The backhoe is the more important part for me.
