Picked up the 1010 - The continuation Empty

Finally got to go down and pick up my wife's grandfathers's 1010 RUS.

One tire is actually holding air better than I previously thought. The tire itself looks almost new even though it has sat out, facing south, for the last two years.

Surprisingly it only took about 20 minutes to get it on the the trailer once I got a game plan in action. Very low tech. Chock the trailer wheels, brace the dovetail, and pull the tractor up with the truck. Worked like a charm. Whew!

Here are a few pictures. We're looking forward to getting started.

On the trailer. Also brought home the Dearborn Mod. 19-2 scrapper in the forground

Secured and ready to head home

Congratulations on picking up your new toy, yeah you’re going to have a lot of fun restoring this 1010.

I highly recommend that you take lots of photos as you go along, there is nothing like showing off the before, during, and after photos.

Picked up the 1010 - The continuation Empty

We are knee deep in it now.

  • Drained all fluids. Transmission had about a gallon of water in it with the oil. Leaky boot on the shifter. Ordered replacement.

Pulled off all the tin. Hood has a pretty good dink in the nose but the rest is reasonably straight.

Bolted on the new starter. Didn't have one.

Pulled the stack and air intake. Will upgrade air intake to bowl as we live in the west Texas dust.

Trashed the grill. Torn, rusted out, and bent. Looking around for replacement. Not important at the moment

Pulled the radiator. Had a small leak. Fixed and waiting for it to come back from the shop.

Pulled the gas tank to clean it and get the steering shaft out. Should be coming back from the shop with radiator.

    Working on wiring harness.

Next on the agenda, until we change our minds:

  • Fill fluids and watch for leaks.

    Reinstall radiator

Reinstall gas tank, add in-line filter after strainer bowl.

    Install battery

    Install new plugs and wires.

Install wiring harness (and figure out all the wiring)

    Install new ignition switch

    Install new light switch
''

Then we may be ready to see if it cranks. Figure at that point we will be looking at distributor work and a coil but we'll see what happens.

It's been fun so far.

Here it is about halfway through the tear down
