Ignition Switch - Letters Empty
PostSubject: Ignition Switch - Letters   Ignition Switch - Letters EmptySat Nov 19, 2011 1:19 am

The 1010 had been converted a negative ground and alternator. The wiring was a mess and had been patched, bypassed, rigged, and yanked out about everyway imaginable. I'm trying to get a wiring harness fabricated and have just about got my brain wrapped around what goes where and mostly why. Modifying the OEM wiring diagram from the service manual, a couple of diagrams off the internet, and a little eyeballing all have me just a little hesitant on a few things. Transposing positive ground to negative and a generator/regulator swap to the 3-wire Delco is enough to make my little brain spin.

I'm still working out a few of the details about the 3-wire alternator, indicator lights and gauges.

On the back of the ignition switch there are a pair of terminals labeled "F". What are these for our what can they do for me? I'm figuring they are ACC (Field?) spades but I thought I'd check first.

Also, was there any type of terminal block on these tractors? I have found the coil resistor and another ceramic piece next to it on the firewall. Any ideas what this piece is? Is it a terminal block? Fuse holder (to what and what kind/size fuse)? I haven't found any mention of it in the service manual.

This I can help with, I have a three wire alternator setup also, I have monday off so I will get some photos and trace to where some of the inaction switch wire go.
For now here is an old pic of my wires, this was taken last summer. but keep in mind that my 1010 has a key switch and a push button starter.

Here's what ours looks like. I pull the switch. Haven't pulled out the nest yet.

These are the two ceramic resistors(?).

I figure the one on the right goes to the coil. Not sure what the ron on the left is, maybe low beams???

After scrapping all the wiring, resistors, and switches things are looking better now (see post under 1010 Wiring Diagram)

It seems that one of the ceramic resistors was to the coil (skinny one) and the other was to/from the long-since-removed generator. Not sure if this is right but that's my best guess.

Here's what the letters mean (or at least go to) that I know of.

Ignition Switch

I - Ignition Coil
B - Battery
L - Light switch
S - Starter Solenoid
F - Is still a mystery. I figure since these ignition swithches were used on everything it is an accessory terminal. When I get everything fired up I'll test it and see what I get.

Light Switch

B - Battery - Power from Ignition switch terminal B
HD2 - Headlights
FL - Rear Flood lights...I hope.
HD1 - Maybe used if you have dual beam lights
TL - Taillight?
R2 - ?
