i have a John Deere 1010 that was working fine. Then the clutch went out. I replaced the disc, but can't get the clutch to engage properly no matter how i adjust it. I have had it apart several times now, checking and rechecking and still cannot get it to work properly. i thought it might be something to do with the pressure plate, so i replaced it also. Still have the same problem. The last time i had it apart i put a washer on each bolt in between the pressure plate and flywheel. This change apperntly will allow the clutch to partially engage, because i can start it in gear now with the clutch depressed and brakes engaged. It will drive now but slips very easy. If i try to depress the clutch and change gears, it grinds badly. The pto shaft is also turning slowly even when it is disengaged. There is no power behind the pto when it is disengaged, it can easily be stopped by hand. The pto works normal when engaged and will even power a brush hog. Any ideas?
