1962 1010W for a newbie!

About to acquire a series 1010W serial 250576 (1962?) with Model 51 backhoe and FEL.  It is a diesel that was driven to my neighbors yard, but it may have been run out of fuel.  I'm a shade-tree mechanic with no diesel or tractor experience.  I understand if run out of fuel, the fuel system will need to be bled? In browsing I saw mention that I may be able to get a repair manual on CD from JD?  Not sure I can wait, or if the manual will cover that.  Appreciate anyone who could point me to an online source with info on that process. Hope I haven't committed to the tractor equivalent of a "boat anchor"?<grin>
