After 26 years as a HS science teacher I decided to change careers.
I am now a training and safety coordinator for a local JD dealership. Like in the teaching field, I also take on some extra duties and fill in as needed.
It has been a good change although I do miss my kids. It has also been pretty overwhelming. There is a lot to learn and I've been stuffing it in as fast as possible. The group of people I work with are top-notch and have been very helpful and patient with an old teacher. Speaking of old teacher, I have found five employees at the dealership that I taught. Talk about making you feel old.
I also get to play with some really big green toys. Today's tractors are amazing. I enjoy all the new fangled gizmos on the new machines but I also enjoy riding the pan seat in the open operator's station feeling the wind and smelling the dirt and exhaust.
